HIV/AIDS [dialogue between journalist and Director]

AN  INTERVIEW BETWEEN A JOURNALIST  AND DIRECTOR OF ANTI-DRUG AGENCY IN MALAYSIA

Journalist : Hello, good morning ,sir.

Director  : Hello,nice to meet you.

Journalist :  Nice to meet you too,sir.I’m,Azhar ,a journalist from Health Magazines.today I  wants to  take a chance to discuss with you about the social issues that occur in this world nowadays especially our country,that is HIV/AIDS to loaded in our magazines next edition.

Director : Okay,thanks because trust me.insyaAllah,I’ll give the full commitment in  our discussion,so that you will get many information about our topic’s discussion.

Journalist : Sir,as a director of anti-drug agency in Malaysia ,of course you had informed all about  Drug and the epidemic cause by it.Sir,actually,what is HIV/AIDS? Before it I just hearing this epidemic but not as detail as you.

Director : human immunodeficiency virus or we call (HIV) is the epidemic that is developed in the world and in developing countries including Malaysia.This epidemic was identified since 3 decades ago.Since the epidemic was found,21.8 million people have died from antiretroviral drugs (AIDS).As you must to know,the united nations estimates that without substantially expanded prevention and treatment programs,approximately 68 million people will die of AIDS in the effected countries between 2000-2020.

Journalist : oh,so this epidemic is killer desease that kill many people in many countries.Sir,of course all desease have their factors.How about HIV/AIDS ? what cause this apidemic occur and how it kill the people?.can you explain more detail about it.

Director : Azhar,there are a lot of causes this epidemic as we known kill many of people.One of this is intravenous drug use.the desease was spread primarily through it before the new infections occur through other factor.Beside that, as example in China,the unsafe blood practice cause many of people were died becase of the transmitted HIV epidemic.Moreover,sexual contact between heterosexuals and homosexual sex cause the increasing died between HIV sufferers.

Journalist : So, there a many of factors cause the increasing of HIV sufferers.Sir,as you had mention before it that the sex also the cause of HIV/AIDS. Are the country like Thailand that is a country that has a large group of sex workers have a many HIV sufferers?

Director : Of course,as for your information,Thailand is one of the larger HIV sufferers in southeast Asia beside Indonesia and Cambodia.Statistic also shown that Thailand have a lot of death people cause by HIV/AIDS.Our country also not excluded because the HIV/AIDS  sufferers in Malaysia became increase nowadays.

Journalist  : This is a hard time for us sir because we must to reduce this epidemic from increase.Emm,sir how about the effects causes by HIV/AIDS ? I think maybe this epidemic cause a lot an effects to all  including individual,community,and also country.Can you explain it?

Director :  That’s true because this epidemic give a large effect to all regardless of age.Beside kill the HIV sufferers, it also has a major impact on family like the social safety net provided by extended families breaks down.in addition,the health and educations systems falter and also business and governments lose their most productive staff.We also can see the shattering family structures because of HIV.It is estimated that since the beginning of the epidemic,more than 8 million children younger than age 15 have lost theirs mothers to AIDS.Increasingly,elderly grandparents and older children are the sole caretakers of scores of younger children.

Journalist : now I see what effect by HIV/AIDS. Sir,are there any ways to avoid or reduce this epidemic from kill a human? maybe by use any medicine or others?

Director : Actually,the medical science still not find the antidote of this desease but by the end of 2001,only 230000 people in developing countries received antiretroviral drug therapy.Yet,in high-income countries,antiretroviral drug therapy contributed to a decline in the numbers of AIDS deaths.So,this is a way to reduce the increasing deaths of AIDS.

Journalist : So,we must to seek this antidotes immediately to reduce the increasing deaths of people.Sir, I think,the information that you have gave to me about our topic discussion  is already enough.Thanks a lot sir for your commitment and your collaboration.
